The List is an historic assemblage of San Diego companies highlighting the 100 most influential and recognizable San Diego brands of the past 100 years. The 100 brands that make The List will be honored on the evening of June 2nd, 2011, during the Centennial ADBASH at the San Diego Zoo - a festive evening event celebrating the 100th birthday of the San Diego Ad Club.
The members of The San Diego Ad Club have compiled a panel of more than 50 prominent expert judges who have been selected to review and narrow down the final 100 brands of the past century. Judge qualifications cover a variety of appropriate expertise including marketing, branding, media, history, and educational backgrounds.
Criteria for Nominations
The judging panel will be asked to select their top 100 brands on the following criteria:
- INFLUENCE Has the brand exercised an influence on our culture, our city and our habits? What impact has the brand provided in terms of affecting change, leadership, innovation or consumer habit evolution?
- RECOGNITION Does the brand elicit immediate recognition or allow the consumer to make a connection or feeling with the brand, service, or product? How compelling is the personality that defines the company’s brand, service, or product? How memorable is the brand recall throughout the market?
- LOCAL PRESENCE Do San Diegans have an intimate or emotional connection to the brand? Does the brand help make San Diego the city that it is?
- LONGEVITY Has the brand endured the test of time? Whether it still exists or not, has the brand established long-term credibility or presence that has affected a generation or a demographic of San Diegans throughout the market?
