Hispanic Marketing Day
On September 22, 2011 the San Diego Ad Club presented "The Hispanic Market: It Really Counts!" - the 18th Annual Hispanic Marketing Day luncheon.
The luncheon presentations included a top level view of the latest trends from the 2010 census presented by Luz Castillo, Partnership and Data Services Specialist, United States Census Bureau. A sports marketing panel was moderated by Alex Montoya, Manager of Latino Affairs for the San Diego Padres. Joining Alex Montoya on the panel was Veronica Avila, Director of Marketing, LA Galaxy and Jim Kalmenson, President of KWKW 1300/ESPN Deportes.
Each year, the San Diego Hispanic Marketing Lifetime Achievement Award is presented. The 2011 recipient is Luis Valdivia of the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Luis is an active member of the Hispanic Marketing Day committee and chaired the event in 2006. Luis has been involved with Hispanic marketing in the San Diego/Tijuana region his entire career and has dedicated his professional life to understanding this unique cross cultural community.
In 2010 the Hispanic Marketing Day committee created a new award: The Visionary Award. The Visionary Award recognizes companies that demonstrate outstanding leadership in Hispanic Marketing. The 2010 recipient of the award was Jack in the Box and the 2011 Visionary Award was presented to the San Diego Padres.
In addition to presenting a Hispanic Marketing Day Luncheon each year the San Diego Ad Club also produces the Hispanic Marketing Resource Guide.
